Peer Review Process

Initial evaluation of manuscripts

The Editor will first evaluate all manuscripts submitted for a maximum of 3 weeks. Those rejected at this stage are insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, or are outside the aims and scope of the JMUA. Those that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to experts reviewers for review. It usually took up to 8 weeks.

Type of peer review

Submitted manuscripts will generally be reviewed by two to three experts who will be asked to evaluate whether the manuscript is scientifically sound and coherent, whether it duplicates the already published works, and whether or not the manuscript is sufficiently clear for publication. The method is blind peer review.

Review reports

Reviewers are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:

• Is original by stating the objectives and gap clearly
• Is methodologically sound
• Follows appropriate ethical guidelines
• Has results/findings which are clearly presented and support the conclusions
• Correctly references previous relevant work
• Language correction is not part of the peer-review process

Decision

Reviewers advise the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. The Editors will reach a decision based on these reports and, where necessary, they will consult with members of the Editorial Board. The editor’s decision is final.

Publication Frequency

JMUA publishes refereed papers four times a year.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Article Processing Charges

All the articles published in Jurnal Matematika UNAND (JMUA) are freely available online (open access). To make it possible, there is an article processing charge (APC) to cover the range of the publishing services that we provide. The charges are including the provision of online tools for editors and authors, article producing and hosting, article abstracting and indexing services such as DOI, and customer services. During the submission and peer-review process, there are no charges. The APC is charged to the author when their manuscript is editorially accepted or before the publication with the amount of Rp 1.000.000.

Plagiarism Policy

JMUA uses Turnitin's originality checking software as the tool in detecting similarities of texts in article manuscripts and the final version of articles ready for publication. A maximum of 25% of similarity is allowed for the submitted papers. Should we find more than 25% of similarity index, the article will be returned to the author for correction and resubmission.

Retraction mechanism follows the guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For your convenience, the document is shown below.
