Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in PDF version produced by LaTeX2e.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • In the submission process, the authors have attached the following supporting files: 1) a Tex file of the article, 2) image files (if any) in jpg format.
  • The manuscript has been anonymized for double-blind peer review. All identifying information (e.g., author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, self-citations) has been removed.
  • The manuscript includes no plagiarism and has been checked using appropriate software.
  • All metadata including title, abstract, keywords, and author information have been correctly filled in.

Author Guidelines

Submission and Template Guidelines

  • All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the Jurnal Matematika UNAND (JMUA) submission system in PDF format for the initial review process.
  • Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the provided TEMPLATE JMUA. The template ensures that all articles are formatted consistently and meet the journal's publication standards.
  • JMUA applies a double-blind peer review system. Therefore, authors must remove any identifying information (such as names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or references to funding sources) from the manuscript file before submission. Author details will be entered separately in the metadata during the submission process.
  • Before submitting the final version of the accepted article, authors must carefully proofread their manuscript and correct any errors. A separate list of corrections should be submitted alongside the final version.

Manuscript Structure

The manuscript must be written in either English or Bahasa Indonesia, and should be structured as follows:

  1. Title:

    • The title should be concise and informative. It must be written in English, without including any academic degrees of the authors.

  2. Author Information:

    • List the full names of all authors (without titles or degrees).
    • Indicate the institutional affiliation of each author.
    • Include the email address of each author, with the corresponding author marked by an asterisk (*).

  3. Abstract:

    • The abstract must not exceed 250 words and should summarize the main findings of the paper.
    • Include up to three keywords in alphabetical order, which accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.

  4. Sections:

    • Introduction: Present the background of the study, including the research problem, objectives, and the significance of the study.
    • Theoretical Framework: Provide an overview of the key concepts and theories relevant to the research. Introduce new terminology in italic for English terms and in bold for Indonesian terms.
    • Discussion: Present the methodology, results, and analysis. Provide clear explanations and discussions of your findings, along with any theorems, propositions, or corollaries.
    • Conclusion: Summarize the main findings of the research, limited to 600 words.
    • Acknowledgments (if applicable): Recognize individuals or institutions that assisted in the study.
    • References: Include a minimum of 15 references, listed in the order of their citation in the manuscript. Use the correct citation format as provided in the template.

References Format

  • Articles:
    • [1] Last Name, Initials., Last Name, Initials., Year, Title of Article, Journal Name, Vol. (Issue): Pages.
  • Books:
    • [2] Last Name, Initials., Last Name, Initials., Year, Book Title, Edition, Publisher, City.
  • Theses/Dissertations:
    • [3] Last Name, Initials., Year, Title of Thesis/Dissertation, Unpublished Thesis/Dissertation, University Name.

Figures and Tables

  • Figures (graphs, charts, etc.) must be submitted in high-resolution (e.g., JPEG) as supplementary files.
  • Tables must be clear and concise, with appropriate captions. Please use the format provided in the template.

Mathematical Expressions

  • All mathematical expressions must be written using LaTeX or other appropriate mathematical typesetting tools. When submitting, include the complete manuscript in LaTeX format as a supplementary file.

Submission Requirements

  • Manuscripts should not have been published or under consideration elsewhere.
  • Submissions must comply with ethical guidelines regarding plagiarism. JMUA uses Turnitin to check for plagiarism, and a similarity index of no more than 25% is acceptable. If a manuscript exceeds this limit, it will be returned to the authors for revision.

Copyright Notice

All articles published in Jurnal Matematika UNAND (JMUA) are open access and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license. This ensures that the content is freely available to all users and can be shared and adapted, provided appropriate credit is given and any adaptations are distributed under the same license.

Copyright Holder

The copyright of all articles published in Jurnal Matematika UNAND is held by the Departemen Matematika dan Sains Data, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA), Universitas Andalas (UNAND). This applies to all published versions, including the HTML and PDF formats of the articles.

Author Rights

While the Departemen Matematika dan Sains Data FMIPA UNAND holds the copyright for all published content, authors retain important rights under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA). This license grants authors and users the following rights:

  • Reuse: Authors can reuse and distribute their work for any lawful purpose, including sharing on personal websites, institutional repositories, or in subsequent publications.

However, the following conditions apply:

  • Attribution: Users must give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and Departemen Matematika dan Sains Data FMIPA UNAND, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. Attribution must not imply endorsement by the author or the journal.

Third-Party Content

If authors include third-party material (such as figures, tables, or images) that is not covered by a Creative Commons license, they must obtain the necessary permissions for reuse and provide proper attribution. Copyright and Licensing Information Display

The copyright and licensing terms will be clearly displayed on each article's landing page, as well as within the full-text versions (HTML and PDF) of all published articles.

No "All Rights Reserved"

As an open-access journal, JMUA does not use "All Rights Reserved" policies. Instead, the CC BY-SA license ensures that the works remain accessible and reusable for a wide audience while still protecting both the authors' and the copyright holder's rights.

Privacy Statement

Jurnal Matematika UNAND is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of all individuals who interact with our journal. This privacy statement explains how we collect, use, and safeguard personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Information Collection

We collect personal information from authors, reviewers, and readers for the purpose of managing our journal operations. The types of information we collect include:

We do not collect any personal information from individuals who simply browse our website.

  • Authors: To manage the submission, peer review, and publication processes. We may contact authors regarding their manuscript, send notifications about the status of their submission, and request additional information or revisions.
  • Reviewers: To facilitate the peer-review process and to communicate regarding the review of a manuscript.
  • Readers: To send notifications regarding new publications, updates, and announcements related to Jurnal Matematika UNAND.

We may also use personal data to comply with legal obligations and to improve our journal services.

Confidentiality of Peer Review Process

All information and data submitted during the peer-review process, including personal details of authors and reviewers, are treated as confidential. We will not disclose any personal information about authors or reviewers to third parties without their consent, unless required by law. The identities of reviewers and authors are kept confidential in our double-blind review process, ensuring impartiality and protecting privacy.

Data Security

Jurnal Matematika UNAND takes data security seriously.
