AI Generative Statement

Jurnal Matematika UNAND (JMUA) recognizes the growing impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies in academic research and scholarly publishing. These tools can support authors in improving writing quality, clarity, and overall efficiency in manuscript preparation. Nevertheless, their use must adhere to the principles of transparency, academic integrity, and ethical responsibility.

Authors submitting manuscripts to JMUA are expected to clearly disclose any use of GenAI tools in the preparation of their work. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of GenAI for drafting, editing, language refinement, data processing, or content generation. Such disclosure is essential to ensure transparency and to maintain the integrity of the peer review process.

JMUA emphasizes that the originality, validity, and intellectual contributions of the manuscript remain entirely the responsibility of the authors. The use of GenAI must not replace critical thinking, analysis, or scientific reasoning. Any misuse of such technologies that compromises academic integrity may result in rejection or further editorial action.

The editorial team reserves the right to assess the appropriateness of GenAI usage in each submission in accordance with established academic standards and ethical guidelines.

JMUA is committed to continuously observing developments in Generative AI technologies and will update its policies as necessary to ensure the highest standards of scholarly publishing are maintained.

Use of Generative AI by Editors and Reviewers

Jurnal Matematika UNAND (JMUA) is committed to maintaining confidentiality, fairness, and academic integrity throughout its editorial and peer-review processes. Editors and reviewers must ensure that the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies does not compromise the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, unpublished research data, or editorial communications.

1. Use of Generative AI by Reviewers

  • Reviewers are prohibited from using Generative AI tools to review, evaluate, summarize, analyze, or generate peer-review reports for submitted manuscripts.
  • Reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts, unpublished research data, figures, supplementary materials, or confidential editorial correspondence to external Generative AI platforms or services.
  • All peer-review assessments, recommendations, and reports must be prepared independently by qualified human reviewers based on their academic expertise and professional judgment.

2. Use of Generative AI by Editors

  • Editors may use Generative AI tools for limited administrative or editorial support, provided that such use does not compromise confidentiality, data protection, editorial independence, or research integrity.
  • Editors must not disclose or upload confidential manuscript content, unpublished research data, reviewer reports, or editorial correspondence to external Generative AI services.
  • Generative AI tools must not replace independent scientific judgment or human responsibility in manuscript evaluation and editorial decision-making.
  • All editorial decisions, including manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection, must remain the responsibility of qualified human editors.

3. Confidentiality and Accountability

  • Editors and reviewers must comply with JMUA's Publication Ethics and Peer Review policies.
  • Editors and reviewers remain fully responsible for maintaining the accuracy, fairness, objectivity, and confidentiality of the editorial and peer-review processes.
  • Any suspected inappropriate use of GenAI that compromises confidentiality or publication integrity will be assessed in accordance with the journal's established ethical procedures.
