Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Matematika UNAND (JMUA) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, and plagiarism in any form is not tolerated. To ensure the originality of all submitted manuscripts, we utilize Turnitin's plagiarism detection software as part of our editorial process.
Plagiarism Detection Process
JMUA uses Turnitin's originality checking software to detect any similarities between submitted manuscripts and previously published works. The software compares the content of the manuscript against a vast database of academic papers, books, websites, and other publicly available content.
Similarity Threshold
A maximum similarity index of 25% is allowed for manuscripts submitted to JMUA. This means that if Turnitin detects more than 25% similarity between the submitted manuscript and existing works, the manuscript will be returned to the author for correction and resubmission. The author is expected to revise the manuscript to lower the similarity percentage, ensuring that all sources are properly cited and any borrowed text is appropriately paraphrased or quoted.
Consequences of Exceeding the Similarity Threshold
If a manuscript exceeds the 25% similarity threshold:
Initial Submission: The manuscript will be returned to the author with a request for revision. The submission process will be paused until the author resubmits a revised version that meets the similarity requirements.
Revised Submissions: If the resubmitted manuscript still exceeds the similarity threshold, the editorial team may reject the manuscript outright.
Post-Acceptance Plagiarism Check
Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, it undergoes a final plagiarism check before publication to ensure that no new or undisclosed similarities have arisen during the revision process. If the final version exceeds the allowed similarity index, the manuscript may be sent back for further revision or retraction from the publication process.
Responsibility of Authors
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submitted work. This includes:
Properly citing all sources and references.
Refraining from using extensive direct quotations without proper attribution.
Paraphrasing or summarizing material in their own words and providing appropriate citations.
By submitting a manuscript to JMUA, authors agree to comply with this plagiarism policy and acknowledge that any violations may result in rejection or retraction of their work.
Ethical Commitment
JMUA is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and will not tolerate any form of plagiarism. We take all allegations of plagiarism seriously and will take appropriate action as necessary to maintain the journal's reputation for academic excellence.
